Christmas Surprise!

This year Nate got me one of the coolest gifts EVER! But in order to full understand you must know a few things about us.

1. We love to get each other unique, and thoughtful gifts that don't say 'I just ran to the store and picked out some random thing that everybody else is getting this year'

2. I LOVE penguins. And by love, I mean they are just the cutest darned things in the history of, well, ever.

Seriously.. What isn't there to love about sweet, dapper little gentlemen who are PERMANENTLY wearing a tux? I'll help you, the answer is nothing!

Now my favourite kind of penguin is a South African penguin. But I'll love on any cute little waddling fella!
I love penguins so much, that in 2012 when we went to Tennessee I paid for Nate and I to pet a penguin! And, as a surprise Nate paid the extra for me to paint with one! ( I know, best husband award goes to him!!)

For any of ya'll that are curious, here's the finished project painted by MoMo the penguin! Which I'm proud to say was the very first piece of art to go up on the wall at our apartment!

Now that you have a grasp of how much I love me some penguins, here's the AWESOME Christmas gift I received from my adorable hubby this year!

That's right, I am officially the proud Momma of a super cute, South African penguin! Now, while Wally may not live with us (I am only slightly sad about this, considering the facts we learned in Tennessee regarding penguin bathroom habits), Nate's adopting him in my name has paid for his rehab and release into the wild! Wally was abandoned as an egg when his Mom & Dad went into molt (apparently this is fairly common) and had he not been rescued by the awesome people at SANCCOB he likely would have died!

Seriously trying to convince Nate to move to South Africa so I can work with cute penguins day in and day out! ;)
